As soon as I saw the Ranier Cherries, I knew I had to have them. And so, of course, I got them.
Summertime in Houston, Texas doesn't bring a lot to look forward too except heat and humidity. But Summer always brings in a bunch of bright, sweet and juicy bounty at the market... berries galore, and oh, oh, OH, when the Ranier Cherries arrive, you just have to smile.
Cherries in hand, grab a couple big bunches of tender-iffic lettuce, one green leaf and one red. Hand tear and toss some of each into a nice big dish. Halve and pit those glorious red/gold globes, and toss them in, too. Sprinkle on a handful of roasted pistachios, and crumble on some feta, and you have yourself one be-a-u-ti-ful bowl!
Remember those chives you have growing in the garden? Cut, snip and add into a creamy buttermilk/yogurt dressing, and pat yourself on the back. You just about have perfection. Get your fork and start eating!
